NEW TESTAMENT

Chapter 34 of the Manual

3 dangers that threaten the church are:
#1 Flattery of prominent men in the world
#2 False educational ideas
#3 Sexual impurity
Paul's 3rd mission was the longest.  Four years and the most distance covered.
Ephesus was the head quarters for 3 of the 4 year mission.  One of his focuses was collecting funds for the poor in Jerusalem.  Women can prophesy, receive visions, entertain angels, enjoy the gifts of the spirit and qualify with their husbands for full exaltation in the highest heaven.
Paul wrote the letters to Corinth around Mar/Apr AD 57.
Truth only comes from the Spirit.

BOOK OF MORMON

Helaman 2

Helaman filled the judgment seat.
Gadiantan is introduced.  He becomes the leader of the Kishkumen group, promising power and leadership if he's put in power.
Kishkumen went to kill Helaman but was killed himself.
When Gadianton realized that Kishkumen had been gone too long he lead his group of followers a secret way out of the city so they couldn't be killed.
End of the 42nd year.

We must see ourselves as His.  We will put Him first in our lives.  We will want what he wants rather than what we want or what the world teaches us to want.

'Family'

Coming to earth as a member of a family is part of the plan of Salvation.
We need to be having couple and family prayer, FHE, scripture study, attending church and families activities together.

DAUGHTERS IN MY KINGDOM

Chapter 9

"You are the guardians of the hearth.  You are the bearers of the children.  You are they who nurture them and establish within them the habits of their lives.  No other work reaches so close to divinity as does the nurturing of the sons and daughters of God"
"Mothers are the heart and soul of any family"

This really hit home to me as I read this.  Especially the 'Guardian of the Hearth' part.
I sat there and just pondered what that truly means as a mother these days and felt the spirit so strong that I need to be the defender for my children when it comes to our home.
I need to be willing to fight for my children's innocence as well as their purity.
I need to do all I can to give them the kind of guidelines they need to live a faith filled life with a strong sense of self as well as Jesus being their saviour.
I'd like this saying make into a necklace or braclet or some kind've fridge magnet.
Hmmmmmm
I need to get on it.

NEW TESTAMENT

1st Corinthians 1-3

2:9-14 This is all about the Spirit.
3:16&17 This is all about the Word of Wisdom

BOOK OF MORMON

Helaman 1

40th year and the Nephites were rumbling.  Pahoran died and his 3 sons wanted to take the judgment seat over, so this caused a 3 way division.  Pahoran was chosen and Pacumeni was fine with it but Paanchi was not.  He was put to death because he wanted to cause a rebellion.
Kishkumen was sent by the mob and killed Pahoran.
He was never found out.  Pacumeni was the new Governor.
In the 41st year the Lamanites wanted to fight.
Coriantumur did take over Zarahemla and slayed Pacumeni.
He also wanted to take over Bountiful but Moroniah caught wind of it and sent Lehi's army to stop them.
Coriantumur died and the Lamanites were surrounded and surrendered.
This was the end of the 41st year.
Man a lot happened.
How exhausting.

August 2011 'Love at home' Thomas S Monson

Nothing can fully take the place of the blessed relationship of family life.
Give your child a compliment and hug.
Say 'I love you' more.
Always express thanks.
Call upon your Heavenly Father for help as you care for your childrens needs each day and as you deal with the challenges which inevitably come with parenthood.  You need more than your own wisdom in rearing them.
May our families and homes be filled with love: love of each other, love of the gospel, love of our fellowman, and love of our Saviour.  As a result, heaven will be a little closer here on earth.
May we make of our homes sanctuaries to which our family members will ever want to return.

DAUGHTERS IN MY KINGDOM

Chapter 8

All Heavenly Fathers sons and daughters are equally blessed as they draw upon the power of the priesthood.
The priesthood is not owned or embodied in those who hold it.  It is held in a sacred trust to be used for the benefit of men, women and children alike.
Men have no greater claim than women upon the blessing that issue from the priesthood and accompany it's possession.
Because LDS women have received the gift of the Holy Ghost they can seek and be blessed by spiritual gifts.
The family and the home are the foundation of the righteous life.

It would seem like he overshadows the other.  But Peter, James and John were the First Presidency and we need to always remember that.
The 'letter' was one of the fastest ways to communicate to the people of the church, with any problems or local needs.
14 letters we have in the New Testament.  Other letters included were written by Peter, James, John and maybe the successor of Pete and Jude.

NEW TESTAMENT

Acts 15:36

Paul had a problem with taking John Mark on a mission and there was a little contention.
I think this is funny it is mentioned.

Acts 16

They were forbidden to preach word in Asia by the Holy Ghost.
Paul had a vision that a man in Macedonia needed him.
Lydia was baptized.
Paul and Silas get arrested.
They were whipped and sent to jail.
Then there was an earthquake.
The guard thought they'd escaped and wanted to kill himself but Paul said not to cause they were all still there.
The guard was so grateful and was baptized.
They were let go and visited Lydia and then left the city.

Acts 17

They keep doing missionary work.
Many Greeks believed both men and women.
Jews keep coming and stirring up the people.
There was idol worship going on.
Dionysius and Damanris believed and were baptized.
I don't know why this man and woman were specifically mentioned but I wonder if they did something great later on or something?

BOOK OF MORMON

Alma 55

Moroni was upset at this letter in return to his.  He refused to exchange prisoners.  He started making plans to rescue the Nephite prisoners.
Laman sneaked in with wine to the guards and got them so drunk they passed out.
Moroni went in to the city of Gid and gave all the Nephite prisoners weapons in case the guards woke up at any stage.  Then they surrounded all the Lamanites  and they realized it when they woke up in the morning.
Moroni took them prisoner then next day.
He put the Lamanites to work strengthening the city of Gid.
The Lamanites tried to trap them but it never worked.
Moroni then wants to attack the city of Morianton.
I think Moroni has a slight temper.  I like him.  He's also got the back up of the Lord in whatever he does.

I think this is easier said than done.  Learn to love work?  Man I'm so lazy at heart that this concept is so tough for me.  Some things are easier than others.
Acquire a spirit of self-sacrifice.
Accept personal responsibility for spiritual strength.
Accept personal responsibility for health, education, employment, finances, food and other life-sustaning necessities.

Pray for faith and courage to meet challenges that come.

If you don't work, your kids starve!
This is the motivation that the early women of the church had to work hard and learn how to store food for later times.
After learning how to store this wheat they were able to give some to Inidans, and people in CA after the earthquake in 1906, to China in 1907 and in World War 1 they sold 200,000 bushels to the US government.

One of the women who became a doctor and helped birth children said the following.

1870 the territorial government of Utah gave women the right to vote.  WY was the only other state in the USA that allowed this.
USA took it off of them with plural marriage.
Then they got it back when Utah was granted statehood.

Here we go

So I've created this blog to make into a book at the end of the year.
I've really enjoyed reading my scriptures over the past couple of years, yet haven't really written down all that I've learned and the spirit I've felt as well as the ideas and thoughts I've had when studying them.
My guess is this is probably important for my kids as well.
So I'm gonna try and start.
I'm reading a few different things in my studies.
#1 New Testament
#2 Book of Mormon
#3 This months Ensign
#4 Conference Ensign
#5 The Relief Society women's book
I guess I"ll put labels on all of these, and each time I post I can put them in their proper lables.  I might title the topics just so as well and see how that goes first of all.
I think it'd also be good to have different topics of the gospel as well.
For example.
THIS MONTHS ENSIGN ARTICLE
Faith
So we've got a good idea of what I"m talking about.
Then have it in labels at the side of this blog.
When I print out the book, hopefully I can make a table of contents that will help with the topics as well.
I can type faster than I can write, so I figured a blog was the best way to do it.
We'll see I guess.
I'm sorry I didn't start this earlier.
It makes me sad.
Reading the scriptures has really helped me in my life.
My patriarchal blessing talks about it as well and how I need to study them and love them.
I really do.
They're fantastic.
So today's the first day of the rest of my life right?
Let's begin.
